Raphaela Barros Campbell

Development Operations Manager

In her role Development Operations Manager, Raphaela is the backbone of the fundraising team. She coordinates operations and provides tactical and strategic support for development – including database management, grant research, fundraising activities, and events. 

Raphaela brings a strong track record in fundraising – having raised more than $8 million in grants across foundation, individual, government, and corporate sources – and a deep understanding of how to use data to tell a story.  Her approach to fundraising and community development is influenced by community-centric fundraising principles, communities of practice theory, adrienne maree brown's Emergent Strategy, Edgar Villanueva's Decolonizing Wealth project, action research methodology, and VISIONS, Inc. guidelines.

Outside of work, Raphaela enjoys spending time with her husband and dogs, video calling her family, sewing, woodworking, crocheting, painting, and an occasional karaoke night or beach day. 

Raphaela and her husband have been gardening together for more than ten years, starting at a community garden plot and continuing in their own backyard. Over time, she has found deep pride in receiving nourishment that comes from the hard work of growing food. BFFC’s mission to provide equitable access to healthy green space for all Bostonians deeply resonates with her. Raphaela believes that food can be a pathway to connection, dignity, and resilience and that we must act quickly to build climate solutions rooted in the distribution of power.
