Celebrate the winter solstice with a guided walk led by herbalist and arborist Alex Klein in the Leland St Cooperative Garden. This workshop is a joint project with Trustees Boston Community Gardens.
Even after fall winds have stripped them of their leaves, trees provide clues to their identification by way of their bark, leaf scars, and other individual characteristics. We will learn to point out key characteristics that will provide you the skills to identify any tree, even in the winter months. Warm wild herbal tea will be offered during the walk.
Later in the afternoon, at 5pm, Leland Garden will host its Return of the Light celebration which is free to all.
The Leland St Cooperative Garden is located at 4 Leland St in Jamaica Plain, a short walk from the Forest Hills Orange Line Station. Street parking is available. The guided walk will be 100-200 meters around the grounds of the garden, with seating options available nearby.
Register here for the Winter Tree Identification walk, which is offered on a sliding scale.
