For a decade, we’ve been building…

  • “For decades, we’ve been chopping down the forests that clean our air and absorb our water. Now it’s time to reverse that and rebuild these landscapes that protect us. Healthy landscapes are climate infrastructure.— Kate Orff, Landscape Architect and Founder of SCAPE Landscape Architecture Firm

  • “One of the best things you can do to prepare for climate change and climate disaster is to bring your neighbor a basket of muffins, because you have to get to know them before the storm.— Samantha Montano, Emergency Management Expert, Massachusetts

  • “I’m very grateful to be a part of this coalition. It makes me feel like I have roots in a way not many other things do.” — Mike Green, Uphams Corner Food Forest Steward

  • “Working as a steward makes me feel hopeful, because I know my work can help someone find a way to eat healthier, learn about food, and meet new people in their neighborhood. These things really matter right now.” — Shawntell Usher-Thames, Ellington Street Food Forest Steward

  • “The more pressure we face as individuals, the stronger we push back together. I’m proud that as stewards our activism reflects that. Through this time, our togetherness will continue to grow stronger in our commitments to ourselves, to our community members, and to creating meaningful, shared resources and spaces.” — Nellie Ward, Egleston Community Orchard Steward

  • “A project like the Boston Food Forest Coalition that supports the fight against climate change, provides a neighborhood with green space in which to come together, and keeps public property from the hands of commercial development... now that is beneficial to all, and a real community asset.” — Ann Noble, Savin Hill Wildlife Garden Steward

to thrive in times of crisis.

We are living through a time of layered crises — climate emergency, inequitable parkland access, community disconnection, and weakening democracy.

Yet, in food forests and living rooms, at picnic tables and community meetings, neighbors continue to come together to plant seeds of resilience despite the challenges we face.

The Boston Food Forest Coalition is one expression of that collective will: a growing network of people reclaiming land, restoring ecosystems, cultivating food, building community cohesion, and strengthening our democracy muscle — one growing season at a time.

It’s quiet work, but it’s powerful. And this past year, we’ve only grown stronger.

We’re glad you’re here.
