Neighborhood: Roxbury

Highland Park is an historic and vibrant neighborhood in Roxbury, also known as Fort Hill or Roxbury Highlands. A mix of people have transformed the neighborhood and there is a history of vacant lots turning into parks.  The area has deep cultural roots, including Native American, early colonial, and African American history, and is now recognized as an architectural conservation district.

Today, Highland Park is celebrated for its diversity, strong sense of community, and rich heritage. There’s a mix of families who have been there for several generations and young families just moving in. The walkable little neighborhood has a distinct sense of community. The majority of the people up there know each other. They talk. It does have a bit of a friendly vibe. It is urban, but it’s just set up for more of a community feel.
